Dear Sir or Madam,

I am looking for an experienced mechanical design engineer or engineering company to develop a complete mechanical design of a new industrial product, a modular folding positioning arm.

The product concept, preliminary architecture, material selection, engineering assumptions and product visualization have already been prepared. I am looking for an engineering partner who can take the project from the current concept stage to complete manufacturing documentation for the first physical prototype.

Main design assumptions:

two tubular arms connected by a mechanical articulated joint,
interchangeable arm lengths: 250 / 400 / 500 / 600 / 750 / 1000 mm,
maximum configuration approximately 2000 mm,
arms: EN AW-6082 T6 aluminium tube, Ø60×5 mm,
main joint components: EN AW-6082 T6 aluminium and 42CrMo4+QT alloy steel,
mounting base: S355J2 structural steel,
positive mechanical position locking,
working positions including 0° / 90° / 180°,
internal cable routing through the joint,
interchangeable end adapters for cameras, sensors, lasers, HMI/monitors and other equipment,
target working design moment: 100 Nm,
prototype proof load: 150 Nm for 60 seconds,
the product is not intended for lifting people or suspended loads.

Required scope of work:

Complete parametric 3D CAD design of the product and all individual components.
Detailed engineering of the articulated joint, main shaft, bearing arrangement, locking mechanism, arm connections, mounting base and end interface.
Selection and verification of bearings, fits, tolerances, bolted connections and bearing preload/axial retention arrangement.
Kinematic analysis, folding analysis, range-of-motion verification and collision/interference checking.
Mechanical strength calculations.
FEA of the critical components and assembly, particularly for 100 Nm working load and 150 Nm prototype proof load.
Stress, displacement/deflection and factor-of-safety analysis.
Verification of the main shaft, joint housings, locking pin, tubular arms, clamps and mounting base.
Design optimization based on calculation and FEA results.
Complete 2D manufacturing drawings including dimensions, GD&T/tolerances, fits, surface finish, materials, heat treatment and manufacturing requirements.
Manufacturing files in STEP and, where required, DXF/DWG/PDF formats.
Complete Bill of Materials (BOM).
Complete MASTER CAD assembly.
One engineering revision after manufacturing and testing of the first P0 prototype.

Required final deliverables:

all native/source CAD files,
complete MASTER assembly,
STEP files for all manufactured components,
PDF/DWG/DXF manufacturing drawings,
complete BOM,
engineering calculation report,
complete FEA report including loads, constraints, assumptions and results,
production-ready documentation suitable for direct quotation and CNC manufacturing.

Please provide the following information in your quotation:

total price for the complete engineering scope,
separate price for CAD/design and FEA if possible,
estimated engineering hours,
project lead time,
earliest possible start date,
CAD software used,
FEA software used,
examples of similar mechanical engineering projects,
number of design revision rounds included,
payment terms.

This product is intended for commercial development. Confidentiality is therefore required. All source CAD files, engineering documentation and project-specific design work created under the contract must be delivered to the customer together with the agreed intellectual property rights.

At the initial stage, I can provide a product visualization and additional technical assumptions. Detailed concept documentation will be shared with the selected engineering partner after confidentiality terms have been agreed.
